Main objectives:

• Meaning and purpose of hrm (providing the right mix of skills, controlling the cost of employment, operational and strategic purposes)
• Management of hrm (division of responsibilities between line managers and hr specialists, different specialist roles in hr, hr representation at senior and board level)
• Main features of the employment market, sectors of employment
• Influence of the legal environment on hrm (pay-related legislation, employment protection and employee rights, job creation…)
• Hr planning (methods for forecasting supply and demand, employment contracts)
• Recruitment and selection process, job descriptions, application forms, methods of attracting candidates, using agencies, cvs/resumés ,references, tests, interviews
• End of employment (resignation, retirement, redundancy, dismissal, mutual agreement, end of fixed term contract)
• Different ways of organising work (different working patterns and structures, performance management)
• Communication and conflict resolution (problem-solving mechanisms, improvement initiatives; total quality management, kaizen-continuous improvement, formal consultation and negotiation systems)
• Different methods of payment and reward (financial reward, fringe benefits, motivation, training and development)
